Privacy and your Screenity data
Learn where Screenity recordings and edits are stored, how AI features and sharing work, and how to request deletion.
Screenity's Privacy Policy explains the data collected, service providers, retention and your rights. Read it for the full, current details.
Local and cloud data
The extension can be used without an account and stores its data locally. If you choose Save to Drive, the selected video is sent to Google Drive. Web app and connected cloud features upload video for storage, playback and sharing. The policy identifies Bunny.net as a video storage provider. Audio may be uploaded for transcription and captioning. Edits can be held temporarily in browser storage before syncing to the server.
AI titles, summaries and chapters
In the web app, AI can draft a video's title, summary and chapters from its transcript. The extension on its own, without an account, does not use it.
Audio is transcribed by Screenity's own transcription service, not by a third-party AI provider. To write a title, summary or chapters, Screenity sends only the text of the transcript to an AI provider hosted in the EU. The video and audio are not sent for this.
For new recordings, automatic titles, summaries and chapters are on by default, and you can switch each one off in Settings, Preferences. When they are off, nothing is written automatically, although you can still ask for a summary yourself in the editor. Summaries and chapters are visible to anyone who can view the video, and you can edit or remove generated text at any time. The Privacy Policy names the providers and explains how they handle requests. See Edit a title and description and Add chapters to a video.
Sharing and deletion
Check your video's sharing settings before sending its link. Anyone who receives a link may be able to view it according to the access settings you choose. See Share a video for controls.
You can delete videos from your library or delete your account. The policy describes retention and exceptions, including payment records held by Paddle. For a privacy request, email privacy@screenity.io with “Privacy Request” in the subject.
