Cut a section from a scene
Select a range inside a scene in the web editor and delete or mute it to remove that part of your video without splitting the scene.
Cutting removes a selected range from inside a scene without splitting the scene. Trimming shortens a scene at its start or end, splitting makes two scenes at a point, and rearranging changes scene order. For those, see Trim, split and rearrange scenes.
Note:This page is about the web editor. For a standalone extension recording on your device, see Cut, trim or mute a recording. To use the web editor instead, upload a downloaded copy to your account.
Open your video
In your Screenity library, open the video you want to edit. The editor shows your scenes on the timeline below the preview. Some videos, such as instant recordings, open in the viewer instead.
Select and remove a range
- Select Cut in the editor toolbar, or press C.
- Drag across the part of a scene's timeline you want to remove. Adjust the selection by dragging its edges if needed.
- Select Delete on the selection, or press ⌫. To mute the range instead of removing it, press M. Play across the cut to review it.
For splitting, edge trimming and rearranging, see Trim, split and rearrange scenes. To cut or mute spoken words by selecting them instead, see Edit a video with the transcript.
Undo or restore a cut
Use Undo or Redo in the editor controls to reverse or reapply an edit. To restore a cut, select its marker on the timeline.
Save your project
The web editor saves changes automatically. If a saving warning appears, follow the message before you leave the editor. Exporting a video is separate from saving your project.
