Work with scenes and the timeline
Select, add and manage scenes, templates and overlay timing on the web editor timeline, and find related editing tools.
Scenes are the segments that make up your video. The timeline shows their order and duration. Select a scene to work on it, or move the playhead to preview a point in the video. To change how fast a scene plays, see Change scene speed. For trimming, splitting or rearranging scenes, see Trim, split and rearrange scenes. To remove a range from within a scene, see Cut a section from a scene.
Add scenes
Use Create to add a recording, upload media or choose an available scene. A video or still image you upload can be a whole scene. See Use an image or screenshot as a scene.
To duplicate the scene at the playhead, press Ctrl + Shift + D on Windows/Linux or ⌘⇧D on Mac. For other editing keys, see Keyboard shortcuts.
Use a template or saved scene
Open Create and choose Templates to add a pre-made scene. Select its text in the preview to edit or restyle it, and use its scene settings to adjust the available frame and speed controls. Drag its edges to change its duration, or reorder it like another scene.
To reuse a scene you've edited, save it to your library. See Save a scene to your library.
Show overlay timing
Use the timing button beside Split to show or hide overlay timing lanes on the timeline. Its arrow opens Timing options:
- Off hides overlay timing lanes.
- Show timing for selected shows the timing lane for the selected overlay.
- Show all timing shows timing lanes for all overlays in the selected scene.
The all-timing option is unavailable when the video has no overlays. In Zoom, Layout and Cut, overlay timing is hidden while those tools use the timeline, and the timing button is disabled. Open another tool, such as Scene, to change the timing display.
