Edit captions and transcripts

Generate captions in the web editor, choose where they apply, and check the words and timing in the transcript before you share.

Captions depend on a transcript of the scene's audio.

  1. Open Captions in the editor.
  2. If offered, select Generate captions and wait for transcription.
  3. Choose a caption look. See Style captions for the looks and their settings. Use All scenes or This scene to choose where to apply the settings.
  4. Review the words and timing in the transcript and preview. Correct mistakes before sharing or exporting.

Looks can highlight words as they are spoken, and you can change a look's font, colors, position and background. Use Details → Transcript to correct words, change the spoken language or edit the video from its transcript. You can choose whether viewers see the transcript in sharing settings. Changing the spoken language creates a new transcript of the original speech. It doesn't translate captions. Translation may be available separately. A scene without audio can't be transcribed.
