View video analytics and notifications
See video analytics in Insights: how many people watched, where they stopped and where they came from. Choose which view emails you get.
Insights is Screenity's video analytics. It shows how a video is being watched, including how many views it has, how far people get, and where they come from. Only you can see it, and it never shows who watched.
Note:A view is one playback session, not a unique person. Someone who watches again can count as another view.
Open Insights
Use any of these:
- In the library, open a video's menu and select Insights.
- In the library, select a video's view count. It sits beside the edit date on a card, and in the Views column in list view.
- In the video's Preview, select the view count beside the video. This appears only when Show view count is on for the video. See Customize the share page.
All three open the same Insights window. The view count on your dashboard is always visible to you. Show view count only controls whether viewers see it on the share page.
What you see
Views
The top of the window shows the video's total views. If you've edited the video since it was first watched, a line beneath splits them into views on the current edit and earlier ones.
Once a video has 5 views, Last 30 days appears with a small bar chart of views per week. When there's enough history, it also shows how the last 30 days compare with the 30 days before.
A video with no views shows No views yet until someone watches.
Engagement
Engagement describes the current edit only. Editing the video starts completion and retention over, so they reflect only views since your latest edit.
- Completion is how many views reached the end.
- Average viewed is the average share of the video watched per view.
- Retention is a graph of the share of views that watched each point of the video. Because it counts anyone who watched a point at least once, the line can rise where people skip ahead.
Once there's enough data, a headline such as Most people stopped at 0:42 points out the biggest drop in viewing. The graph can also mark Most replayed and Least watched sections. Use them to find where to tighten the video, or which part people come back to.
Hover over the graph to see the share of views at any moment.
Engagement figures appear only after enough views of the current edit:
| Figure | Appears after |
|---|---|
| Completion and average viewed | 5 views |
| Retention graph, drop-off, replayed and least watched | 10 views |
Until then, Insights shows a note saying when each one will appear.
Audience
Audience shows how and where the video is watched. It appears once the video has 5 views in total.
- Device splits views into desktop, mobile and tablet.
- Country shows where views came from.
- Where views come from has two columns. Share page shows the sites people arrived from, such as Gmail or Slack. Embedded shows the sites that host your embed. These are different sources, so a view counts under one or the other.
Each list stands on its own. You can't combine them, for example to see which countries use mobile.
Note:To keep a small number from pointing at one viewer, any value seen fewer than 3 times is grouped into Other. Unknown counts views where the browser didn't say. Viewers whose browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control still count as a view, but they're left out of these lists and appear as Unknown.
Call to action
If the video has call-to-action buttons, Call to action shows the total clicks, whether they came from the share page or an embed, a Last 30 days trend, and clicks per button. If you later remove a button, its past clicks are grouped as Removed buttons, so each column still adds up.
Clicks are counted, not people. Your own clicks and clicks from crawlers are left out. Insights shows no click rate, only counts. To add buttons, see Customize the share page.
Get emailed when a video is watched
Screenity can email you about a video's first view and when it reaches 10, 100 and 1,000 views. These emails never say who watched.
Manage them in Settings → Notifications. See Manage email notifications for view, comment, export and product-update emails.
Privacy
Insights uses aggregate counts and no cookies. It measures how your video is watched, not who is watching.
Some parts of Insights may not appear for every video or account.
