Allow camera and microphone access

If your camera or microphone isn’t available in the Screenity popup, check its device and browser permissions.

If your camera or microphone is missing from the Screenity popup, check the device and browser permissions.

Allow camera and microphone permissions

  1. Open the Screenity popup. If a device has not been allowed, the popup shows Allow camera access or Allow microphone access in place of that device's dropdown. Select it. A dialog titled Check your permissions opens. Select Review permissions to open Chrome's site settings for Screenity.
  2. In the extension's Chrome site settings, allow the devices you want to record. Return to the page and reopen Screenity, then choose the devices in the camera and microphone dropdowns.
  3. If access is still blocked, check the browser's camera and microphone settings and your operating system's permissions.

Some websites tell the browser not to let extensions use the camera or microphone. On those pages, selecting Allow camera access or Allow microphone access shows a message that says "This website blocks access to your camera and microphone". You can still record there, but your camera will not be visible. Changing the browser's permission setting does not override the website's policy, so open the popup on another page instead.

If you don't see the camera icon in the address bar

In Chrome, check chrome://settings/content/camera and chrome://settings/content/microphone for blocked access. Browser labels and permission locations can vary. Also check your operating system's camera and microphone permissions.
