Memory limit reached
Learn why Screenity stops a recording with a memory limit message, what is kept, and how to download your video from the player.
The Memory limit reached message means Screenity stopped the recording on its own because your device ran out of storage space, or because Screenity could not save any more of the recording to it. While it happens you may see a short message saying "Low disk space. Saving your recording now." Everything recorded up to that point is kept.
Note:This page is about the free extension without an account, which saves recordings on your device while you record. If you're signed in to Screenity and your recording is saved to your account, see Recording problems.
When the recording stops, the player opens with the Memory limit reached message and the buttons Understood, Learn more. and Get help. Select Understood, then download the video from the player.
How to prevent the “Memory limit reached” error
Before another recording, free up storage on your device. For standalone recordings, open the popup's three-dot menu, open Quality and choose a lower resolution. See change recording quality. If the recording is missing, try recovery before starting another.
If you see "Not enough space" before recording
When you are not signed in, Screenity checks the available storage before it starts. If there is too little, it shows Not enough space and does not start the recording. Free up space on your device and try again. If an earlier recording is still stored on your device, the dialog also offers Clear previous recordings. That removes the stored data, so restore and download it first if you still need it.
