Blur sensitive information

Blur parts of a web page while you record. Blur hides content visually and does not remove the underlying information, so check the result.

Use the blur tool to hide page elements during a recording. Check the result before showing sensitive information.

Turning on blur mode from the recording toolbar, selecting the payment card and an email address to blur them, then turning blur mode off from the toolbar.
Note:

This blurs page elements live, while you record. To blur an area of a recording afterwards, use the web editor. See Blur and spotlight an area. Blur does not redact the underlying content.

How to use the blur tool

  1. Select the icon made of dots (Toggle blur tool) on the recording toolbar. Hover over an icon for a moment and its name appears.
  2. Move the pointer over the page. The element under it gets a blue outline. Select it to blur it, and select it again to remove the blur.
  3. Select the trash can icon (Clear all blurred elements) to remove every blur. To leave blur mode, press Esc or select the blur icon again (it turns into a close button). Leaving blur mode keeps the blurs on the page.

While blur mode is on, press 0 to clear all blurs and reset any cursor effects, and Esc to leave. Toggle blur mode has no default shortcut, but you can assign one in Chrome. See keyboard shortcuts.

Blur only works on supported web pages, not in other applications. Prepare the page, or pause the recording, before you reveal anything sensitive.
