Set recording and sharing preferences

Choose defaults for new recordings, transcription language, search indexing and tutorials in your Screenity settings.

Open Settings → Preferences to choose defaults for new recordings and videos. Changing a preference does not edit recordings or videos you already made. Some options appear only when the feature is available for your account.

Recording defaults

  • Recorder chooses whether Screenity asks each time or starts with the Chrome extension or web app. This choice is saved in the current browser.
  • Default folder chooses where new videos are organized in your library.
  • Disable automatic zooms stops new recordings from adding click-based zooms automatically. You can still add zooms in the editor. See automatic zooms.
  • Prioritize smoother motion, when available, favors a higher frame rate for motion such as games or fast scrolling, even if resolution is lower.
  • Enhance voice on new recordings, when available, applies voice enhancement to eligible new recordings. The original microphone recording is kept, and enhancement can be changed for an individual scene in the editor.
  • Name new recordings from what you say, Summarize new recordings, and Add chapters to new recordings control which details are generated for new videos when those options are available. You can edit generated titles, summaries and chapters later.

Transcription and discoverability

  • Transcription language sets the language used for new transcripts, or Automatic to detect it. You can change the spoken language for an individual video in its Details panel.
  • Allow search indexing on new videos lets search engines index new videos. It does not change existing videos or make a private video public.

Reset tutorials

Choose Reset tutorials in Preferences to show the onboarding tutorials and tips again. This does not reset your other preferences.

To choose what viewers see, open Settings → Viewer. Page options such as playback, captions, transcript, comments, reactions, author name and view count apply to new videos. The call-to-action default also applies to videos that follow the account default. See Customize the share page. To edit a setting for one video, use that video's editor or Share settings.
