Add chapters to a video

Add chapters to a video in the Screenity web editor. Create them by hand or generate them from the transcript, then edit and share them.

Chapters let viewers jump to sections of a video. They show in the chapter list and on the player timeline when chapter visibility is on.

  1. Open the video in the editor, select Details, then Chapters.
  2. Choose Add manually or Add chapters to create your own, or Generate chapters when available. Generation uses the transcript and produces a draft for you to review.
  3. Adjust the chapter titles, descriptions and start times. The first chapter starts at 0:00. Move the playhead and select Add chapter to add another at that point, then choose Save.
  4. To update existing chapters, use Edit chapters. The chapter options menu also offers Copy for YouTube.

Generated chapters don't replace your saved ones until you select Save. Cancel to keep the existing version. Check the generated titles and times before you save. Eligible new recordings may also get chapters automatically, depending on your settings and plan.

In Share → Customize viewer, choose whether viewers can see chapters. Use the link beside a chapter to copy a link that opens the video at that point. Chapters hidden by a trim can return if you undo the trim.

If generation isn't available, wait for transcription to finish and check that the video has enough speech. Very short videos, videos over the supported length, your plan and usage limits can also block it. You can add chapters manually instead.
