Keyboard shortcuts

Shortcuts for the web editor, web recorder, shared video player and browser extension, with Windows, Linux and Mac keys.

Find shortcuts for the web editor, web recorder, video player, and browser extension below. Each has its own context and shortcuts.

In the web editor, press ? or Ctrl + / on Windows/Linux or ⌘/ on Mac to open the current shortcuts list. You can also open the editor's help button and select Keyboard shortcuts. In record mode, the list shows recording shortcuts instead.

In the tables below, shortcuts show the keys for your device, or both the Windows/Linux and Mac keys if your device can't be detected. On Mac, ⌘ is Command, ⌥ is Option and ⇧ is Shift. Shortcuts generally stand aside while you type or when a menu or dialog has focus. A focused control can also use its own keys.

When an object is selected, arrow keys move it instead of navigating scenes, and Space does not toggle playback. Use K to play or pause.

With no object selected, Alt / ⌥ + arrow moves a scene. With an object selected, it resizes the object instead. Unmodified ⌫ or Delete acts on the current selection. An object takes priority, followed by an active layout block or zoom, then the scene at the playhead. In the Cut panel, it removes the selected range.

Browser extension

These are the extension's shortcuts, separate from the web app and editor shortcuts above. Chrome's defaults use Alt on Windows/Linux and ⌥ on Mac. Open chrome://extensions/shortcuts to check or change your assignments. Available commands and assignments can vary. See how to use and customize extension shortcuts for setup details.

Start recording with the last settingsAlt + Shift + G / ⌥⇧G
Pause / resume recordingAlt + Shift + M / ⌥⇧M
Cancel recordingAlt + Shift + X / ⌥⇧X

Chrome also lets you assign keys to other commands, which have no default. They are Stop recording, Toggle drawing mode, Toggle blur mode, Toggle hide UI, Toggle cursor options and Toggle microphone (the microphone toggle does nothing while push to talk is on). Shortcuts set in Chrome can stop working if another extension or Chrome itself uses the same keys. Starting may require you to select a source, and camera recording requires an available camera.

Extension in-page shortcuts

These depend on the active tool or setting and may conflict with shortcuts on a website. Push to talk must be enabled in the popup, and the recorded page needs to be in focus. Hold Alt + Shift + U / ⌥⇧U to turn the microphone on and release it to turn it off. With Zoom to cursor on, hold Alt + Shift + E / ⌥⇧E to zoom toward the pointer.

The number keys above apply in drawing mode and stand aside while editing text or using an input. In blur mode, 1, 2, and 3 toggle the target, highlight, and spotlight cursor effects. 0 clears those effects and blur masks.
