Crop a recording

Crop a recording to just part of the picture in the Screenity extension's local editor, then download the cropped version.

After a standalone recording, use the extension's local editor to crop the picture to the part you want.

Note:

This page is about the extension's local editor. If you're editing a video in the Screenity web app, its crop works differently. It crops a scene's screen or camera separately. See Crop and frame your video.

How to crop

  1. In the recording player, find the Edit section and select Crop (Crop and resize the video).
  2. Move and resize the crop box on the preview of your video. You can also type exact values, in pixels, for Width, Height, Left and Top.
  3. Select Save changes. The button shows the progress while the video is processed.
  4. When the player returns, the cropped recording replaces the original in the player, and a message confirms Changes saved. Then download your recording.

Cancel closes the crop view and discards your edits. Revert to original restores the recording as it was before you cropped it.

When Crop is unavailable

While the player is getting your recording ready, the Crop row reads Preparing... with a percentage, and Crop can't be used until that finishes. Crop also can't be used on a recording that is too long to edit. The row then reads Not available or Unavailable for long recordings. See editing long recordings.

Cropping runs on your device, so it can take a while. The crop view shows a notice titled Cropping might take a while.
