Save a recording to Google Drive
Upload a Screenity extension recording to your Google Drive from the player, and find out what to do if the save fails.
You can upload a standalone extension recording to Google Drive from the player.
- Finish the recording and wait for the player.
- Under Save, select Sign in and save to Drive, then sign in to the Google account you want to use.
- Approve the requested access. Screenity asks only for access to the files it creates in your Drive. The button reads Saving... while the upload runs.
- When the upload finishes, Screenity opens the file in Drive in a new tab. It is saved in a folder named Screenity.
Once you are signed in, the button reads Save to Drive. To use a different Google account, select Sign out of Drive, which appears above the button, then sign in again.
Screenity uploads the current version of the recording, including edits you have saved. That is the MP4 once it is ready, or the WebM before then.
Uploading requires an internet connection. If the save fails, the player tells you why:
- Your Google Drive is full: free up space in Drive and try again.
- Recording too large: the recording is too large for Drive. Download it instead.
- Couldn't access Google Drive: Google didn't let Screenity sign in. Try a different Google account, or download the video instead. School and work accounts can block this.
- Couldn't save to Google Drive: try again.
If a video appears blank in Drive, wait for Drive to process it and refresh. See Google Drive help.
To share a recording saved to your Screenity account instead, use the web app's sharing controls. Saving to Drive does not add the recording to your Screenity library.
