Privacy Policy

Last updated 13 December 2023

This privacy policy aims to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of how we manage your personal data. Screenity encompasses both the website (screenity.io) and the Chrome extension available in the Chrome Store. We take care to safeguard your privacy while ensuring transparency in our data practices.

Data Collection

At Screenity, we uphold a strong commitment to privacy. We do not collect, share, or sell any user data. The entire process, from recording videos to processing them, is conducted locally and privately. The Screenity extension does not have a database, backend, or servers of its own. In addition, our open-source extension is designed to prioritize user control over their information.
The videos recorded with the Screenity extension belong to you and will remain only in your device, unless you decide to store them in Google Drive by enabling the integration and manually saving them in the editor.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google Drive Integration

For users opting to connect with Google Drive to conveniently save their videos in the platform, we strictly adhere to privacy standards. For this feature to work, we require signing in with a Google account and we request the minimal required permissions. Your user data stays in your device, and is not stored in any servers. We use the authentication token and permissions granted solely for the purpose of uploading videos when users choose to save them to Google Drive by clicking on the respective button in the editor, after making a recording. You can read Google’s privacy practices by clicking here.

No Cookies Policy

Screenity does not utilize cookies, in the website or in the extension. The browsing experience is intentionally designed to be cookie-free, providing a seamless and privacy-conscious environment.

External Forms

We utilize Tally, an EU-based and GDPR-compliant service, for various forms, including optional uninstall surveys, feedback and bug reports, and registrations for upcoming versions. Tally stores user emails only when explicitly provided, ensuring compliance with the highest data protection standards. You can request your email to be removed by contacting us at [email protected].

Newsletter

Throughout the extension and this website, users may encounter links to a Substack newsletter. Subscribing is completely optional and opt-in, if the user chooses to do so they will receive emails with updates on the development of Screenity and other products by the maker. The privacy policy of Substack can be accessed here. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Help center

The help center of Screenity, accessible through this website and the extension, is hosted by HelpKit. It contains information and guides about the website and the extension. You can read the privacy policy of HelpKit by clicking here.

External links

Screenity may contain external links. Users are advised to review the privacy policies of these linked websites, as they are beyond our control. Screenity does not take responsibility for the privacy practices of external sites.
