By accessing or using Screenity, including the website (screenity.io) and the Chrome extension available in the Chrome Store, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with these terms, please refrain from using Screenity.

Use of Screenity

You acknowledge that Screenity is designed for screen recording and annotation purposes. You agree to use Screenity in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and these Terms of Service.

User Data

Screenity does not collect, share, or sell any user data. All videos recorded with Screenity belong to the user and remain on their device unless they choose to store them in Google Drive. Importantly, Screenity does not store any user data on servers.

Google Drive Integration

For users opting to connect with Google Drive, you agree to adhere to Google's terms of service and privacy practices. Screenity uses minimal required permissions to upload videos to Google Drive as per the user's explicit action.

Intellectual Property

Open Source Licensing: The Screenity extension embraces open-source principles. The software, including the Chrome extension and associated components, is made available under specific open-source licenses.

  • Version 3.0.0 and above (Manifest Version 3): The latest versions of the Screenity extension of 3.0.0 or above with manifest version 3 are licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 (GPLv3). The full text of this license can be found here.
  • Version 2.8.6 and below (Manifest Version 2): Any versions of the Screenity extension of 2.8.6 or under with manifest version 2 are licensed under the MIT License. You can read this license by clicking here.

Use Restrictions: While Screenity encourages the open-source community, users must adhere to the terms specified in the respective open-source licenses. You agree not to violate the terms of these licenses, including but not limited to reproduction, distribution, or creation of derivative works without explicit permission in accordance with the applicable open-source license.
Proprietary Elements: Certain elements of Screenity may remain proprietary, and you agree not to reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any proprietary content without explicit permission.
Attribution: When using or distributing Screenity under the open-source licenses, you agree to provide proper attribution as outlined in the respective licenses.
