# Change scene speed

> Speed up or slow down a scene in the web editor, from half speed to double speed, and check the timing afterward.

Change a scene's playback speed to make it play faster or slower in the video. This changes the scene's duration, so review the timing of its edits afterwards.

1. Open an editable video and select a scene on the timeline.
2. Open **Scene** and find **Playback** → **Speed**.
3. Drag the speed slider or enter a value. **1x** is normal speed. A higher value plays faster and a lower value plays slower.
4. Play the scene and check its audio and the timing of overlays, zooms and cuts. Use **Undo** if you want to reverse the change.

To return to normal speed, set it to **1x**. For an eligible recorded scene, the scene menu also offers **Apply speed to all scenes**. Review the rest of the video after applying it, since each scene's duration can change.

The slider ranges from 0.5x to 2x. The minimum scene duration and the project's duration limit can restrict how far you can go, and speed controls depend on the scene's content.

To change only part of a scene, [split it](https://screenity.io/help/web-editor/trim-split-and-rearrange-scenes) first, then adjust the speed of the resulting scene.
