## What do I need to use the extension?

Use the Screenity extension on a computer with a supported Chromium-based browser, such as Chrome. Keep your browser up to date, and allow enough local storage for your recording. If your Chrome is too old, the popup shows **Custom area recording disabled** with an **Update** link.

Some features depend on browser and device capabilities. Screen capture, camera and microphone access may require browser or operating-system permission. See [permissions](https://screenity.io/help/get-started/why-does-screenity-ask-for-permissions).

## Can I use it on Firefox?

Screenity is a Chrome extension, and there is no Firefox version. See the [installation page](https://screenity.io/help/get-started/how-to-install-the-screenity-extension) for how to install it.

## Can I use it offline?

You can use the standalone extension to make local recordings without signing in. Install and set it up while online first. The recorder, player and editor run from files inside the extension, so a local recording doesn't need a connection. Saving to Google Drive, signing in and anything tied to your account do need one.
